1. Citrus



Most people know that a diet high in vitamin C can produce a better complexion. For these benefits people eat oranges and other citrus fruits but most don’t know that there are benefits of applying these foods topically. Applying citrus to clean skin can tighten pores, remove dead skin cells and even act as a toner when used at the end of a skincare routine!

2. Moisturize

Make a habit of moisturizing your face. Every morning, wash your face and finish your routine with a good moisturizer. For sensitive skin, try natural moisturizers like extra virgin olive oil.

3. Sunscreen

This is probably one of the most overlooked items in skin care. In the Summer, it’s easy to remember the sunblock as you enjoy a day at the beach but the rest of the year, sunscreen takes up residence in the medicine cabinet. Sunscreen is important even if it’s cloudy outside, it keeps skin young, healthy and beautiful.

4. Take Vitamins

The skin is an outward sign of what is going on in a person’s body. Bad skin can mean that the body is not getting what it needs. Daily multi-vitamins can help improve the quality of skin. Some great ones to try are Vitamin E and C. Protein and Zinc are also important to improve skin quality but the best is probably Biotin.

5. Honey

Honey is amazing for skin, it is believed to help fight aging and it restores a soft, youthful, blemish-free look to skin. Look for skincare items that contain honey like Comvita products or simply apply natural honey as a face mask and then rinse with warm water.

6. Eat More Vegetables

We can’t stress enough that a happy inside creates a happy outside for the body. There’s a reason you’re supposed to have your “5 a day”. They are full of essential vitamins and help give skin that refreshing look. By loading up on vegetables, there is less of a chance to fill your body with foods that are bad for it.

7. Cut Down On Junk Food

We know you’re probably thinking “but it’s so delicious”. Yes, yes it is but the way to radiant skin is not through greasy cheeseburgers. No one is telling you that you can’t eat an Oreo ever again but we are encouraging you to stop eating whole bags of Doritos in one sitting like it’s your job.

8. Eat More Fruit

Now, you had to cut down on the junk but that doesn’t mean you need to starve. Try snacking on some strawberries instead of whatever that gooey stuff was inside of that snack cake. Fruits are a good source of fiber, have a high water content and they have the vitamins and nutrients that healthy skin needs. Bonus: they taste great!

A face mask is a great step to better skin. Create your own egg mask by cracking egg and separating the yolk and white into separate bowls. Take the egg white and beat it with a fork until it becomes foamy. Apply to clean face and leave until dry. Rinse with warm water then cover face with egg yolk, leaving it on until it dries. Rinse with warm water and see how beautiful your skin looks!

10. Drink More Water

Roughly 70% of your body is made of water! Your skin needs it to look and feel its best. Your body needs at least 8 cups (or about 2 liters) of water each day to stay healthy and keep your skin radiant. A healthy adult can drink up to 3 gallons of water in a day… but you could probably just drink some 1 liter Dasani bottles and call it a day!

11. Exfoliate

Exfoliation is key in getting better skin. It is simply the action of removing dead skin cells and can be done a lot of different ways. Try using a sugar or salt scrub after washing face then rinse with warm water for immediate results.

12. Cucumbers

Cucumbers have the same level of hydrogen as skin. It creates a cooling effect when applied to skin and helps remedy minor skin irritations. There are also benefits to eating them or drinking cucumber juice.

13. Oatmeal

The benefits of oatmeal seem to be never-ending. They can be used to cure itches, treat acne and calm irritated skin. Add it to a warm bath or create a face mask to experience soft, hydrated skin.

14. Oils

There are the sort of oils you ingest and there are those you can apply directly to the skin. Try using olive oil or vitamin e oil on skin and see the wonders it does for a soft, even skin tone.

15. Cocoa Butter

Cocoa butter has been an important part of skin care for generations. It hydrates the skin and gives it a soft, smooth feel that lasts longer than regular lotions.
