Naganap ang operation sa pagtugis ng SAF troopers sa terror suspects na sina Zulkifli bin Hir alias Marwan at Basit Usman. 44 na miyembro ng PNP-SAF ang namatay sa bakbakan.

He swore that if he survives the clash, he will share with his comrades’ families what he saw.
“Yung isa nga tumitingin sa cellphone eh, nakatingin sa [picture ng] anak niya siguro, habang gumagapang ako nakikita ko ‘yung reaksiyon [nila], Yung iba, patay na talaga. ‘Yung iba, nawalan ng bala, na-injured, nakahiga na lang… kung mabuhay man ako, ipaalam ko sa…katulad ng nakita ko, nakatingin sa cellphone…. Pag-uwi ko talaga, sasabihin ko sa asawa niya na ikaw ‘yung tinitingnan that time,” Robert said.

He also narrated how one of his classmates, who died at the encounter, diverted the attention of the MILF — to help him escape.
“Yung classmate ko, n’ung nakita niya na ini-snipe na ako sa pinaggagapangan ko, tumayo siya. Sabi niya, ‘Classmate, sige lang, abante ka.’ Tumayo talaga siya para ma-divert ‘yung sniping sa kanya imbes na sa akin mapunta,” Robert shared.
‘Let us be strong for our children’
Humahagulgol naman ang biyuda ni Senior Inspector Ryan Pabalinas na si Erica, habang nagtatalumpati sa necrological service para sa 44 na napaslang. Sabi niya, katulad ng iba pang mga naulilang pamilya, katarungan ang kanilang idinadaing kay Pangulong Noynoy Aquino. ”To our President, we seek for your help to attain justice. Please, sir president. Please help us.”

Pinaalalahanan din niya ang mga tulad niyang biyuda na maging matatag, para sa kanilang mga anak. “For the grieving wives just like me, let us be strong for our children because behind every brave SAF trooper is a strong wife.
