Si Joey ay isa sa mga unang nag-apply ng bagong postal ID card. Dahilan niya? Ito daw ay nakatulong sa kanya noong nag-apply siya ng trabaho.
“Nung humingi yung ina-applyan ko ng valid ID, medyo kinabahan ako kasi wala naman akong lisensya o anuman. Buti nalang may postal ID ako kasi ina-accept daw yun as valid ID!”
Naging popular ang pagkuha ng postal ID cards sa mga empleyado tulad ni Joey, ayun kay PHLPost Business Lines Manager Eric Tagle. Ito ay dahil isa siyang valid document na hindi kailangan ng iba pang ‘special skill’, qualification, o employment na required sa ibang dokumento tulad ng driver’s license, SSS, or GSIS card.

Noong February 3, 2015, nagbukas ang Philippine Post Office (PHLPost) ng 206 post offices nationwide na magsisilbing capturing sites sa pagkuha at pagproseso ng mga panibagong postal ID cards.
Di tulad ng laminated cards nang nakaraan, ang bagong postal ID card ay wallet-sized na PVC plastic card na nilapatan ng digital security.

Ang Postal ID ay isang government-issued ID na maaring gamitin sa pag-apply ng trabaho, pagkuha ng loan o passport at sa pag-cash in ng tseke. Ito ay magsisilbing valid proof of identity at address.
Here are the steps in applying for the new Postal ID card:
1. Fill out the Postal ID application form. Ang mga application forms ay makukuha sa mga post office at maaring i-download online. I-click lamang ang link :https://www.phlpost.gov.ph/files/phlpost_docs_201523_a29ef3f9e7.pdf
2. Submit application form and other requirements to any of the postal ID capturing sites. Ang ibang requirements ay ang sumusunod:
- 3 copies of 2×2 ID pictures
- Original + photocopy of NSO or LSO birth certificate
- Original + photocopy of a document that shows proof of address (i.e. barangay clearance, utility bill showing the applicant’s name and address)
- Marriage contract issued by the NSO or LSO (For married females only. This is to validate their change in name.)

3. Pay processing fee. Bayaran ang processing fee na Php 370.00 at ang optional na certification fee na Php 30.00 per copy.
4. Return to the post office on the scheduled date and present receipt to claim your postal ID. Ang resibo sa processing fee ay ‘wag po nating kalimutan dalhin kapag kukunin na ang postal ID sa tinakdang araw.
Paalala lang, sa pagkuha ng postal ID, ang mga menor de edad ay kailangang may kasamang nakakatanda.
