‘Tis the season to deck those halls and walls. And while Divisoria and Dapitan remains a favorite go-to place for cheap Christmas decors, here are a few other places you can check out.
1. Warehouses
You’ll find everything you need to get your house ready for the holiday season at the warehouse of Unique Novelties and Toys at 15 Zorra Street, Paltok, San Francisco Del Monte, Quezon City. They have everything from Christmas trees to ornaments to Santa hats and boots. You can buy these at wholesale prices if you buy 6 pieces or more of each item. The warehouse is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm. And from now until December 21st, they’re also open on Sundays. You may call them at these numbers: 373-5001/371-7606.

Regalong Pambahay’s outlet store is another good place to shop for knick knacks. They don’t specifically sell Christmas items but you can give cake plates and bird cages a Christmas feel by adding a dash of red or green. All items at the store are also at 20% off. Regalong Pambahay is at the FMF Business Center, 126 Pioneer Street, Mandaluyong City. They are open Monday to Friday from 8am to 7pm.
2. Christmas Factories
There are stores that sell decors the whole year round. Like the Christmas Factory in Sampaloc, Manila which sells Santa Claus figures in all sizes. For a sample of their products you can visit their website: www.christmasfactory.com.ph.
3. Filipiniana-themed Novelty Stores
If you want proudly Pinoy decors, go to Kultura at SM Malls or Papelmeroti. Kultura has ornaments handcrafted from capiz shells, raffia, abaca, and other indigeneous materials. If you’re into paper mache and wood, Papelmeroti might be more your style. Some wooden ornaments are on sale right now. You could get a Santa Claus ornament for only P50.00. Papelmeroti’s main branch is at Scout Tobias in Quezon City. They are open Monday to Saturday from 8 am to 8 pm.
4. National Bookstore
They don’t only sell books and supplies. You can buy ready-made ornaments and decors and even trees at National Bookstore. If you want to go D-I-Y, they have a lot of craft materials that you can buy like styrofoam balls, glitter glue, and paper mache letters.
5. Toy Stores
Toy Kingdom and Toys”R”Us also have some Christmas items, like dancing Santas, stockings, and reindeer headbands. Some of these items are marked down at Toy Kingdom.
But you don’t have to limit yourself to Christmas items. You can use actual toys like small plushies to decorate your tree. If your kids love Spongebob or Dora, you can dress up your tree with party favors in their favorite characters.
For a Frozen-theme, you can get character standees at Toy Kingdom for about P350 a set. These are in black and white but your kids will surely have fun coloring these cardboard cut-outs.
6. Gadget stores
Some stores sell cellphone charms that you can use as tree ornaments. I did this once and saved a lot because the faux crystal charms cost only P10 each.
7. Hardware stores
Ace Hardware and True Value also sell Christmas items. You can find tree ornaments for less than P30.00 at Ace. True Value has marked down several Christmas items. A pack of candy cane tree ornaments is now at 50% off at only P75.00.
