Marami sa atin ang may mga aso at pusa sa bahay. At madalas, sila ay ating tinuturing na part ng family dahil sa kanilang loyalty at affection. Ngunit, safe pa ba ang family kung ang ating pets ay may rabies?

Trabaho nating mga pet owners na pangalagaan ang ating mga pets sa bahay at kasama sa ating pag-aalaga ang pagsisigurong sila ay healthy at rabies free. Gusto man natin dalhin ang ating pets for laboratory examination to detect rabies, tayo ay natitigilan sa presyo ng lab fees.
Bilang solusyon sa usaping ng lab fees to detect rabies, nagpatupad ng moratorium si Dept. of Agriculture Secretary Proceso J. Alcala. Sa moratorium na ito ang lab fees ay tatanggalin sa government facilities tulad ng Philippine Animal Health Center of the Bureau of Animal Industry (DA-BAI) at Regional Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratories (RADDLs) ng Department of Agriculture Regional Field Offices.
Mula February 2015 hanggang December 31, 2016 ang free rabies examination.

According to Secretary Alcala, the laboratory examination for rabies should be free of charge to encourage submission of more samples from suspected animal rabies cases. Waiving the lab fee is in line with DA-BAI’s thrust to hasten the goal of a rabies-free Philippines through dog vaccination.
Ang free rabies examination ay para sa mga pet owners na hindi kayang bayaran ang lab fees.
“There are a number of people who could not afford to pay the Php 200.00 laboratory fee for rabies examination. In waiving the laboratory fee, more pet owners especially in the rural areas will be encouraged to have their dogs tested for rabies” said Dr. Emelinda Lopez, Rabies Focal Person at DA-BAI.
Bukod sa pagsasagawa ng rabies examination para sa ating pets, ayon kay Dr. Lopez ,tayong mga responsible pet owners ay encouraged ding alagaan ang ating pets at huwag silang iwanan sa labas ng kalye upang maiwasan ang pag-spread ng rabies. At pinaka-importante sa lahat ay pabakunahan ang ating pets regularly.
