Muling nagbabala ang Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) sa mga Filipino na nais magtrabaho sa ibang bansa sa mga modus operandi ng mga illegal recruiter, lalo na sa mga household service workers (HSWs) na gumagamit lamang ng visit o tourist visa para sa overseas employment.

Ayon kay POEA Administrator Hans Leo J. Cacdac, dapat siguruhin ng mga Filipinos that they have approved and appropriate work permits or visas before they leave the country.

Dagdag pa niya, hindi dapat sila tumanggap ng mga job offers na ang gagamitin lamang nila sa pag-alis ay tourist visa, maski na sinasabing maihahanap sila ng recruiter ng trabaho pagdating sa kanilang pupuntahang bansa.

“Foreign workers without proper employment documents cannot work legally in any country and are constant target of crackdowns. They are also more prone to exploitation by employers,” explains Cacdac.

Sa POEA dapat pinoproseso ang mga kaukulang papeles para makapagtrabaho sa ibang bansa. “The legal way is to obtain an employment contract and employment visa or work permit and submit them to the POEA for processing and issuance of exit clearances,” ayon kay Cacdac.

Pinaalalahanan din ni Cacdac na may strict procedures ang Bureau of Immigration sa kanilang screening ng mga Filiipinos na umaalis bilang tourists.
