No time for love?
Women in the Philippines today are getting more and more empowered. Marami na silang nagagawa sa kanilang buhay compared to women from other generations. Dahil financially-independent ang babae, madami na siyang kayang gawin for herself.
Mas busy na ang mga kababaihan ngayon sa pagpapalago ng kanilang mga sarili. As career women, they enjoy the fruits of their labor by pampering themselves, travelling, and shopping, among other things.
But this busy schedule usually affects their lovelives. Before they realize it, wala pa rin silang nahahanap na karelasyon and their biological clock is slowly approaching the danger zone. Sa sobrang busy nila, wala na silang time for love.
Pero sometimes, kaya single pa rin ang babae ay because of bad choices they have made in the past with regards to dating people. Or, baka masyadong choosy. Whatever the reasons are, women should know how to set their relationship goals straight so they can find The One.
Assess your goals and dreams in life
According to Maribel Dionisio, parenting and relationship expert, it’s important to know what you want in life. Magandang i-assess ang iyong sarili kung ano nga ba ang mga hopes, dreams, and aspirations mo sa buhay.
Dionisio stresses that your future partner should be in line with these goals and dreams. Maaaring supportive ang partner mo dito or pareho kayo ng gusto sa buhay. It’s advisable that you share the same values and priorities in life.
“Dapat alam mo kung ano ang gusto mo, at ano ang hinahanap mo. Dapat alam mo kung ano ang mga pangarap mo, at dapat yung pakakasalan mo kasi, kailangan alinsunod doon sa iyong pangarap din, moving towards the same direction,” she explains.
Three things to consider
Also, according to Dionisio, may tatlong important na factors na dapat hanapin ng mga babae sa isang relationship:
- Compatibility
- Emotional maturity
- True love tested over time
Dagdag niya, balanse dapat ang attraction at qualifications. “Kapag nakilala mo ang tao, may tibok ba ng puso o wala? Hindi naman pwede ‘yung on paper, similar tayo pero walang tibok ng puso. There is a need for attraction. Pero ayaw din naman natin na puro attraction pero wala namang qualifications.”

Love is blind, sabi nga. Lalo kapag sobrang love at first sight, mataas ang level of attraction at na-o-overlook na ang kakulangan ng mga qualifications. On the other hand, sa iba, baliktad naman. Out of convenience, dahil lahat ng qualifications ay present na sa tao, pinipilit na lang mahalin maski hindi naman talaga gusto. It’s important to note these things kapag pumapasok sa isang relasyon.
Mahalaga rin ang emotional maturity ng isang tao sa isang relasyon. Usually, self-centered ang mga taong emotionally immature, iyong sarili lang ang kanilang iniintindi. At kadalasan, dependent masyado sa karelasyon ang taong emotionally immature. Hindi siya makakilos without consulting his or her partner. Watch out for these signs when choosing a partner.
And lastly, according to Dionisio, you will know it’s true love if it stands the test of time. “Dapat magkasama muna kayo for three years, at nagkikita ng 4 to 5 times a week,” she recommends. A lot can happen kasi as time goes by, at doon niyo lubusang nakikilala ang inyong karelasyon.
With these tips in mind, singles may be able to find true love earlier than expected, at hindi na maiiwan ng Huling Biyahe. Although, kung hindi naman mahanap si Mr Right o si Ms Right, don’t settle for anyone less than your standards since a lifetime of happiness ang at stake dito. Kahit huling biyahe, dapat nakasakay ka nang maayos. Dahil kapag sumabit ka lang sa sasakyan, baka mahulog at maaksidente ka lang.
