Showbiz Ambush by Ambet Nabus
When it comes to being happy, Richard Yap simply ignores rumors about him being a greedy and money-oriented person.
Said he in an interview, “Hayaan na lang natin. In this business, everything is being talked about. I learned na di yun dapat pansinin, and instead focus on things that I need to pay attention to.”
The said controversy stemmed from the day he and his handlers decided to back out from the supposedly pre-Valentine concert he would be doing sana with Ai-ai de las Alas.

Professional as he is, he simply called up Ai-ai and told her that he and his handlers had not come to good terms with the producer of the show and “mahirap namang magtrabaho nang ganun.”
And now that the show has been cancelled and the comedy concert queen spilled the beans and blamed the producers for being so unprofessional, the air has been cleared and Papa Chen’s camp has been vindicated.
Reportedly, show producer Jacob Fernandez and Faith Cuneta were not able to settle even the 50% downpayment for the venue (Resorts World), and some of the required expenses like for marketing and promo.
Ai-ai herself even wanted to make “paluwal” as she can afford to do it but she made up her mind and said, “Kapag ginawa ko yun eh para ko na ding kinunsinti ang maling gawain di ba? Kaya nga nakakahiya man, dapat namin itong ayusin at sila (producers) ang dapat na managot.”
It’s a good thing that Papa Chen is patient and kind-hearted. He speaks of his Tsinoy roots: “Kapag naman kasi ginawa mo yung magagandang values na itinuro sa inyo sa buhay, you can never go wrong.”
