“That’s my mom,” replied Luis Manzano simply referring to our dear idol, friend, and kumare Vilma Santos’ words about his career and lovelife.
In a recent interview after Ate Vi’s health got better, the Batangas Governor answered every question na binato sa kanya. Since wedding proposals are the “in-thing” among showbiz people, media friends wanted to hear from her about his son Luis, or Lucky, as she fondly calls him. Always in jest, Luis tells us that he is just waiting for Angel Locsin to propose to him.
“But you know me also. I am the type of parent na hindi mangongontrol ng anak. If he wants to get married, he has my support. Actually, gusto ko na ngang magkaroon ng apo sa kanya,” related Ate Vi, who also said that Angel is dear to her and her family.
When media people asked her if she ever told them to have the wedding in Lipa like she did when she married Senator Recto, Ate Vi replied, “Ay hindi tayo mag-i-impose. But then again, it’s their decision if ever man. We’re here to always support.”
Incidentally, Ate Vi was among Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera’s primary wedding sponsors at their wedding last December 30th. On why she never allowed the couple to personally visit and tell her the news, “I was sick at that time. Madali naman akong kausap. Marian is like my daughter kaya makasisiguro silang darating ako para mag-ninang sa kasal nila.”
Moreover, Ate Vi’s high respect for her son Luis’ decision-making was proven once more when they were offered a movie project by Star Cinema. The project would have her, Luis, and Angel in the lead, but Luis backed out as he reasoned out that things might get ugly to those who would say that they are capitalizing on their real-life romance.
And so, only Ate Vi and Angel will be seen working together and Luis’ role was supposed to have been offered to Jericho Rosales. The still untitled movie project has a Mother’s Day playdate so get ready movie fans and supporters of Ate Vi, for this will be another milestone to her very impressive filmography.
