PARENTING: How to make your child become the next Henry Sy

Every parent dreams of having a successful child. How much he or she earns in the future often defines that success.

From abroad, ang isang Oprah Winfrey.

What they all have in common is they have their own businesses.

“One that is open to risks, looks forwards to challenges and ready and willing to overcome setbacks,” she explains.

Combining intelligence and interest in any of the eight areas mentioned, pwedeng makaisip ang iyong anak ng next big idea or innovation.

Huwag nang tanungin kung “How smart is my child?” Ang tamang question, ayon sa kanya, “How is my child smart?”

“Successful entrepreneurs have discovered and used their intelligences in their chosen field,” ayon kay Teacher Joy.

1. For the word smart

At bukod sa reading, bring out the storyteller para maipahayag ang kanilang imagination through writing or speaking. Malay mo, maging future publisher, editor o writer siya—o isang multimedia millionaire like Oprah.

2. For the number smart

Logical mathematical intelligence naman ang ability to think in numbers and in terms of logical reasoning. Sila ang mga batang nasasabihang makulit, only because they are curious.

Magaling sila sa math, in and out of the classroom at enjoy sa mga experiments.

Engage them also in logical-mathematical games, like chess, Monopoly or similar board or computer games.

3. For the picture smart

Kapag magaling ang iyong mga anak na mag-isip using images and pictures, meron silang spatial intelligence. They love drawing and designing, so mas madali sila matuto using visuals.

Maraming computer graphics programs na pwede niyang paglaruan at magamit for family projects, like a video of their school outing using Windows Movie Maker.

4. For the nature smart

If your kids are nature lovers at mahilig sa outdoors (hindi lang dahil gusto nilang gumimik at maglaro), ito ang tinatawag na naturalist intelligence. When they grow up, they usually become farmers, veterinarians, environmentalists, or maybe dog whisperers gaya ng sikat na sikat na animal trainer at TV personality na si Cesar Millan.

Turuan silang maging responsable by tasking your nature smart child with caring for a pet, and recycling at home.

5. For the music smart

Isa siyang example ng may musical intelligence dahil sa kanyang sensitivity to pitch, melody, rhythm and tone.

Push mo ang kanyang pagiging natural performer by encouraging family and friends to watch his or her recitals and concerts.

6. For the body smart

If your kids are able to use their body and handle objects with extraordinary skill, they have bodily-kinesthetic intelligence.

You may have a future member of Team Gilas in you family.

Hindi lang naman sila pang-sports. You can make them use their hands or feet in the arts, through crafts and dancing.

7. For the people smart

Your child likely has interpersonal intelligence—the ability to understand people and relationships—kaya isa siyang potential leader.

Teacher Joy says let these kids expand their friendship circle, by joining clubs and other group activities.

8. For the self smart

Meron namang intelligence sa pagkilala sa sarili at sa ibang tao. Ito ang intrapersonal intelligence that makes chlidren recognize their strengths and weaknesses and in turn, lets them be more aware of their emotions and dreams.

Karamihan sa mga successful business ay dating hobbies, according to Teacher Joy. That’s why you need to let your children enjoy the activities that interest them.

Ganito ang simpleng simula ng marami sa ating mga sikat na chefs at restaurateur, like si Chef Boy Logro, who was able to turn his passion into a profitable profession.
