Good news sa mga aspiring teachers! May scholarship programs para sa mga future educators ng ating bansa.

Ilan dito ang 1000 Teachers Program at Step-Up ng Philippine Business for Education o PBEd.

1000 TEACHERS PROGRAM

Scholarship Benefits:

1. Four-year tuition scholarship c/o the partner school,
2. Php 2,000 monthly allowance,
3. Php 2,000 semestral book allowance,
4. Payment of Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) review and examination fee
5. Hiring prioritization by DepEd.

– Bachelor of Early Childhood Education
– Bachelor of Elementary Education
– Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English, Biology, Chemistry, General Science, Mathematics,
or Physics
– Certificate in Teaching Program

Application Process

1. Apply and pass the entrance exam of any of the partner TEIs.
2. Pass the scholarship requirements to the Scholarship Coordinators’ Office of the partner TEI.
3. Pass the teaching aptitude test to be administered by the Center for Educational Measurement.
4. Sign the 1000 TP contract and enjoy the benefits of the program.

Qualifications and Requirements

High School Graduates (para sa mag-a-apply sa Undergraduate Studies/College)

– Must belong to the top 10% of graduating batch
– Must have a minimum overall average of 85%
– Must not have a grade less than 85% in Math, Science, and English during senior high school
– Preferably a Muslim or a member of an indigenous peoples (IP) community

Requirements:

1. Accomplished application form
2. Latest high school report card/ official transcript of records
3. Letter from principal certifying that applicant belongs to the top 10% of the graduating batch
4. Certificate of good moral character – NCAE result (if available)
5. Essay on “The First Thing I am Going to Teach My Students…”

College Graduates (Certificate in Teaching Program)
– Graduate of any bachelor’s degree, except BS Education (preferably, a graduate of BS Math, Accountancy, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Medical Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Literature, Communication, Social Work, and other related courses).
– Must have at least a general weighted average of 85% or equivalent in college

Requirements:

1. Accomplished application form
2. Transcript of Records
3. Essay on “The First Thing I am Going to Teach My Students…”

STEP-UP
Ang isa pang scholarship na maaaring i-avail ng mga gustong maging guro ay ang Step-Up.

Scholarship benefits:

– Free tuition and miscellaneous fees
– Php 4,000 monthly allowance
– Php 3,000 book allowance per semester
– Php 1,000 uniform allowance per semester
– Php 2,000 monthly dormitory allowance
– Php 5,000 one-time relocation allowance
– Php 5,000 one-time Thesis or Practice Teaching Allowance
– Php 2,000 graduation and miscellaneous fees assistance
– Maximum of Php 15,000 LET assistance package
– Php 3,000 one-time return allowance
Php 5,000 reimbursable basic health assistance per school year
Mentoring package

Allowed courses:

– Bachelor of Early Childhood Education
– Bachelor of Special Education
– Bachelor of Elementary Education
– Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English, Biology, Chemistry, General Science, Mathematics, or Physics
– Certificate in Teaching Program

Beneficiaries, Qualifications, and Requirements

Incoming first year college indigenous persons (IPs) and non-IP students

Preferably a Muslim or a member of an indigenous peoples (IP) community

Requirements:

1. Duly accomplished application form
2. High school principal’s certification attesting that the applicant belongs to the Top 25% of the graduating batch
3. NSO birth certificate
4. Certificate of good moral character from high school principal or registrar
5. 300-400 word essay on “The First Thing I’m Going to Teach My Students…”
6, High school transcript of records or senior year report card
7. National Career Assessment Examination results (if available)
8. Two (2) letters of recommendation from teachers citing the level of interest and potential of applicant
9. Certificate of Confirmation from National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (if applicable)
10. TEI’s entrance exam results (for applicants who have already taken and passed the partner TEI’s admission exam)

Third year college teacher education students

– Must be a current or incoming third year teacher education student
– Must have a running general weighted average of at least 85% or equivalent
– Must be financially incapable of continuing tertiary education

Requirements:

1. NSO birth certificate
2. Certified true copy of college grades
3. Two (2) letters of recommendation from teachers citing the level of interest and potential of applicants
4. 300-400 word essay on “The First Thing I’m Going to Teach My Students…”
5. ­Certificate of Good Moral Character from college/university
6. ­Certificate of Indigence from the Office of the Barangay Captain or any other concerned office
7. Photos of the household

College graduates / college teachers / career shifters

– Graduate of any bachelor’s degree, except BS Education (preferably, a BS Math, Accountancy, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Medical Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Literature, Communication, Social Work, and other related courses.
– Must have at least a general weighted average of 85% or equivalent in college

Requirements:

1. College Transcript of Records
2. Two (2) letters of recommendation from former professors for fresh graduates; and for professionals, two (2) letters of recommendation from former professor and/or employers citing the level of interest and potential of applicant;
3. 300-400 word essay on “The First Thing I’m Going to Teach My Students…”
4. TEI’s entrance exam results (for applicants who have already taken and passed the partner TEI’s admission exam)

Application Process

1. Document Screening – Applicants must complete the documentary requirements and submit either the soft or hard copy of their completed application.

PBEd shall assess the documents for completeness, accuracy, and quality.

2. Bridge Program – Applicants from IP communities shall undergo a bridge program to prepare them in the entrance and qualifying exams.
3. Examinations – After screening the documents, qualified applicants need to pass two exams, namely the Philippine Aptitude Test for Teachers (PATT) which serves as STEP UP’s qualifying exam and the partner TEI’s entrance exam. Passers of both exams shall be notified about their acceptance in the scholarship program.
4. Interviews – Applicants with borderline/near passing scores in the combined document screening and examinations shall be further screened through a panel interview. The interview will be composed of three panels representing PBEd, the TEI, and DFAT.
5. Notification of results and enrollment – All applicants will be informed of the results of the application. The STEP UP Team and the school mentors will then assist the applicants in their enrollment in the partner TEI.

February 20, 2015 – deadline of application for incoming first year college IPs
March 5, 2015 – notification of document screening results of incoming first year college IPs
April 17, 2015 – deadline of application for first year non-IP college applicants, third year college teacher education students, and college graduates / college teachers / career shifters
April 30, 2015 – notification of document screening results of first year non-IP college applicants, third year college teacher education students, and college graduates / college teachers / career shifters

2. Examinations

May 4-15, 2015 – PATT and TEIs entrance exam
May 18-29, 2015 – Release of exam results (2 weeks after)

3. Screening Interviews: May 25 – June 5, 2015

4. Notification of results
May 25-29, 2015 – Notification of results of successful applicants
June 8 – 12, 2015 – Notification of results of successful interview applicants
June 2015 – Enrolment of successful applicants
